Amati Windmill 1710/01
Amati Windmill 1710/01
Ref: 323
Something a little diffrent.
Windmills have been around for at least 1300 years. In Europe, windimills were developed in the middle ages. They were mounted on city walls and could not be turned into the wind.
Because fixed mills did not suffice for regions with changing wind directions, mill types that coud be turned into the wind were developed. With some subsequent developments mills become versatile in windy regions for all kind of industry.
Most notably grain grinding mills, sawmills, pumping mills.
With the indistrial revolution, the importance of windmills energy was replaced by steam and internal combustion engines. With increasing environmental concern, wind power has regained interest as a renewable energy source.
This new generation of wind mills produces electric power and are more generally referred to as wind turbines.

The kit includes: laser cut wooden structure, brass photoetched parts, straw covering, printed bricks.

One of the most famous races is that between Natchez and Robert E. Lee, held in 1870 between New Orleans and Saint Louis. After 750 miles of water the Robert E. Lee won the race, covering the distance in 3 days, 18 hours and 14 minutes.

Built at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Ireland, Titanic was the largest passenger steamship in the world.
Titanic's designers used the most advanced technology available at the time and the ship was popularly believed to be "unsinkable."

Pinta or Nina
Pinta or Nina
Ref: 331
There are not many contemporary evidences on the two caravels, except for the few oblique references that can be found in a resume of Columbus Journal. Nevertheless two things are pretty sure: both ships belonged to the Pinzon family and at the very beginning both of them had lateen sails. Then during the first stop at the Canary Island the Pinta replaced its lateen sails with square sails. This operation, together with the substitution of the mast delayed the departure of four weeks. Columbus always referred to Niña and Pinta as the Caravels.
Both kits include: all wooden and metal accessories; laser cut wooden keel, frames and decks; sails and flags; wooden planking; masts and riggings; construction plans and instructions.
