Dumas Model Boat Kits

Small Range of kits from Dumas an American company

Dumas City of Buffalo
Dumas City of Buffalo
Ref: 9180
The City of Buffalo is a beautiful example of the Steamboats that flourished on the resort lakes of the north eastern United States in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Designed by Capt. J.W. Pierce, she was built in Jamestown New York, and launched in 1890 on Chautauqua Lake in New York. One of 13 large (125') steamboats built entirely of wood and sheathed in steel, she served the region from 1890-1929. Unfortunately like so many of her sisters she was destroyed by fire in 1929
This 1/48th scale model of The City of Buffalo balsa is planked over laser cut lite ply frames and uses a combination of balsa, poplar plywood, and expanded PVC. The kit is beautifully detailed with cast metal pieces, laser cut components, flags, decals and much more. The construction documentation includes full size plans, a 57 page instruction booklet and a 30 page figure packet with 70 individual figure drawings.
Length: 33" Beam: 7.75" Scale: 1/48th
Additional parts required to power and radio control the model:
6v motor, Electronic Speed Control, 7.2v Battery Pack, Two Channel Radio

Dumas Brooklyn Tug
Dumas Brooklyn Tug
Ref: 9179
The Brooklyn was built in 1910 and owned by the New York Dock Co. Steam powered all her career she was inauspiciously sold for scrap in 1960. She was one of many railroad tugs, designed to transfer railroad cars from one side of New York to the other on barges known as car floats. Railroad tugs almost always towed barges alongside, with one car floating on each side, hence the heavy guards and the use of single posts instead of H-bitts. Railroad tugs were characterized by long houses because there was no need of towing space aft.
The Dumas kit of the Brooklyn is designed to give you the salty appearance of the original boat. Not just your average tug, the Brooklyn has the characteristics that set the early tugs apart. You get a vacuum formed hull, all the parts to build the conventional die cut superstructure, and enough detail (laser cut parts, lots of castings, brass railings, etc.) to keep you busy through many a long winter night. If you are one of many who admire the pugnacious spirit of tug boats then this one is for you. Another classic model from The Model Boat People.

Dumas Lackawanna
Dumas Lackawanna
Ref: 9178
This coastal tug built in 1900 not only burned coal for power but also but also hauled barges filled with coal along the New England coast. The Lackawanna was 137 feet long but her gorgeous sheer and festive air made her appear almost yacht like. Our 33 inch model of the Lackawanna captures all the beautiful lines of this classic tug.
This kit features a vacuum ABS plastic hull and expanded PVC diecut parts. The Lackawanna is not short on detail with tons of laser cut parts and loads of castings and turnings. Top it off with clear and concise step by step plans and instructions and you have a great kit of an Early 20th Century Tug that is truly a pleasure to build.

Dumas George Washington Tug
Dumas George Washington Tug
Ref: 9177
The George W. Washburn was launched by the Cornell Steamboat Company to move barges and cargo like stones, sand, and bricks up and down the Hudson River between Albany and New York City. She was, during her early years, considered the fastest tug on the Hudson. Since she took on paying passengers, her appearance was kept up. It was said that a Cornell Steamboat could be notices from great distances by the yellow and black color of the smoke stacks. Sad to say, however, that the George W Washburn and Cornell Steamboat Company are no longer around today.
This kit features laser-cut plank-on-frame construction.

Creole Queen Kit
Creole Queen Kit
Ref: 9176
Looks can be deceiving, which is certainly the case with the Creole Queen. When you study the Creole Queen you could easily place her in the days of Mark Twain, wheeling down the Mississippi as onlookers sit fishing off the bank. In actuality, the Creole Queen was built in 1983 for the 1984 New Orleans World Fair. The fact that the Queen looks so authentic is no accident. Even though she is powered by a powerful diesel electric propulsion system, the builders at Halter Marine took every precaution to make sure the Creole Queen had the look of the 1800s. The Dumas model of the Creole Queen is constructed of precision die-cut birch and mahogany plywood. The detail package included in the kit is immense. It has stampings, wood turnings, castings, plastic parts, and a 3 page decal set. Running hardware kit #2349 is the paddle wheel drive system for the model. It includes an internally reduced gear head motor that supplies the perfect speed to the paddle wheel. For the more adventurous, the size of the Creole Queen leaves the door wide open for those modelers wishing to try less conventional powering methods. Live steam would certainly be a possible option. So if you have always dreamed of building your own working stern wheeler, the Dumas Creole Queen is for you.

Dumas Dauntles
Dumas Dauntles
Ref: 9082
1946 Sparkman and Stevens designed a 66 ft. commuter boat for the express purpose of carrying commuters down the Hudson River into New York. What a glorious way to beat the traffic. These commuters were used by their owners as everyday transportation to and from work, and for pleasure trips to their favorite spots. The most famous of these commuters was the Dauntless. The Dauntless was owned by a prominent New York family. They undoubtedly considered the Dauntless a great diversion from their day to day business dealings. The days of the Dauntless are gone but you can bring them back. The Dauntless features top quality construction materials. The kit is made almost entirely of 1/8 in. mahogany plywood. All parts are cleanly die-cut, and we have included a variety of detail parts including 38 cast metal fittings. The size of the Dauntless leaves the door wide open for different powering methods. The obvious choices would be scale electric power, high speed electric power, or twin gas power, but you may have your own ideas. twin screw, twin power methods in the Dauntless.

Dumas U.S.S. Crocket Kit
Dumas U.S.S. Crocket Kit
Ref: 9115
The U.S.S. Crockett was one of the seventeen gunboats in the Asheville Class. This class had the distinction of being the first group of Navy Ships to be powered by a gas turbine. The Crockett was capable of a top speed of 50 knots but more impressive still was the fact that she could accelerate her 230 tons from 0 to 40 knots in 60 seconds. The Crockett, stationed in South Vietnam was designed for coastal patrol, blockade reconnaissance, and support missions. But rest assured when duty called, the crew of the U.S.S. Crockett could get there in a hurry. The Dumas model of the Crockett is a builders boat. She features balsa plank over die-cut mahogany frame construction for the hull, and conventional die-cut construction for the superstructure. #2105 is an optional deck hardware kit with more than 80 cast fittings. Included in the deck hardware are all the armaments needed to send her in to battle. #2341 is the twin screw running hardware kit used to drive the Crockett.
