Suitable for modelling Warspite after Torpedo Buldges were fitted.

Laid down on October 31, 1912, at the Devonport Royal Dockyard, HMS Warspite was one of five Queen Elizabeth-class battleships built by the Royal Navy. The brainchild of First Sea Lord Admiral Sir John "Jackie" Fisher and First Lord of the Admiralty Winston Churchill, the Queen Elizabeth-class became the first battleship class to be designed around the new 15-inch gun. In laying out the ship, designers elected to mount the guns in four twin turrets. This was a change from previous battleships which had featured five twin turrets..

HMS Warspite - World War II:

Rejoining the fleet in 1937, Warspite was sent to the Mediterranean as the flagship of the Mediterranean Fleet. The battleship's departure was delayed for several months as the steering problem that had begun at Jutland continued to be an issue. When World War II began, Warspite was cruising the Mediterranean as the flagship of Vice Admiral Andrew Cunningham. Ordered to join the Home Fleet, Warspite took part in the British campaigns in Norway, and provided support during the Second Battle of Narvik.

The Flower class corvettes were a class of 267 corvettes developed by the Royal Navy specifically for the protection of shipping convoys during the Battle of the Atlantic (1939-1945) in World War II.
They were a stop-gap measure in the war against the German U-boats: small ships that could be produced quickly and cheaply in large numbers. Despite being initially intended for coastal convoys, their long range meant that they became the mainstay of convoy protection in the first half of the war, and were extensively used by the British, the Royal Canadian Navy, and later the United States Navy.
After the war the Flowers were sold off and served around the world from the Israeli Navy to the Chilean Navy. The name "corvette" was originally a French term for a small sailing warship, intermediate between the frigate and the sloop-of-war. In the 1830s the term was adopted by the Royal Navy for British sailing warships of the same type, primarily with a similar shipping-protection role.
With the arrival of steam power, paddle-driven and later screw-driven corvettes were built with the same role, growing in power and size over the decades. However in 1877 this traditional category was abolished, corvettes and frigates being combined into a new category of cruiser.
The 1939 concept of the corvette returned to the original shipping-protection role, rather than having any linear link with the cruising vessels of 1877. There are two distinct groups of vessel in the Flower class. The first vessels from the 1939 and 1940 programmes were followed by another 64 ships launched from 1940 onwards which were significantly larger and better armed; the Admiralty therefore chose to designate them as a separate class, officially called the Modified Flower class.
The Flowers of the United States Navy are also known as Action-class gunboats with the "PG" hull classification symbol.

S.G.B. "HMS Grey Goose" Denny Steam Gunboat

The Steam Gun Boat (SGB) was a Royal Navy term for a class of small naval vessels used during the Second World War. The class consisted of nine gun boats, powered by steam, and built from 1940 to 1942 for the Coastal Forces of the Royal Navy. They were developed in parallel with the Fairmile D motor torpedo boats ("Dog boats"), specifically as a response to the need to hunt down German E-boats and also as a response to the scarcity of suitable diesel engines. While sixty were planned only an initial batch of nine were ordered on 8 November 1940, of which seven were completed.72.5" x 12" 184.25cm x 30.5cm scale 1/24th circa 1942

H.M.S. Cleopatra, Leander Class Frigate 1976 Batch 2, Exocet ConversionH.M.S. Cleopatra, Leander Class Frigate 1976 Batch 2, Exocet Conversion Ref: 2327
HMS Cleopatra (F28) was a Leander-class frigate of the Royal Navy (RN). Cleopatra was built at Devonport by H.M. Dockyard. She was launched on the 25th March 1964 and commissioned on the 4th January 1966.

Upon Cleopatra's commissioning, she joined the 24th Escort Squadron and subsequently became a training ship, being based in a variety of ports. She was soon back on active service however, when she deployed to the Far East in 1968 and then participated in the Beira Patrol, which was designed to prevent oil reaching the lacklocked Rhodesia via the then Portuguese colony of Mozambique.

In 1972, Cleopatra took part in escort duties during the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh's South East Asia tour. In 1973, Cleopatra began her modernisation, becoming the first Batch Two Leander to do so, which included the removal of her one twin 4.5-in gun to allow the addition of the Exocet anti-ship missile system. In 1977, Cleopatra, like many other Leanders, took part in the Fleet Review of the RN in celebration of HM the Queen's Silver Jubilee. Cleopatra was positioned in the middle of HM ships Zulu and Arethusa.

In 1981, Cleopatra deployed to the Mediterranean, which still had a large RN presence at the time. The following year, Cleopatra was fitted with the new towed array sonar. Further duties were undertaken but by the late 1980s, Cleopatra's age was beginning to show and her time was coming to an end. On the 31st January 1992, Cleopatra was decommissioned. The following year, Cleopatra was sold for scrap.

HMS Active (F171) was a Type 21 frigate of the Royal Navy. Built by Vosper Thornycroft, Southampton, England, she was completed with Exocet launchers in 'B' position, the first of the class to be so fitted.
Active participated in the Falklands War and by the mid-1980s, in common with the other surviving Type 21s, Active suffered from hull cracking. When the ship was next refitted steel plating was welded along each side of the ship to repair and reinforce the weak points. At the same time modifications were made to reduce hull noise.
Active decommissioned and was sold to Pakistan on 23 September 1994, being renamed Shah Jahan. Exocet was not transferred to Pakistan and Shah Jahan had her obsolete Sea Cat launcher removed.
A Chinese LY 60N missile launcher was fitted in place of the Exocet launchers. Signaal DA08 air search radar replaced the Type 992 and SRBOC chaff launchers and 20 mm and 30 mm guns were fitted.

Empress of Asia Empress of Asia Ref: 2316
Sister ships, the Empress of Asia & Empress of Russia were in service from 1913-42 (Asia) and 1913-45 (Russia) for the Canadian Pacific Line.
The only difference between the two was the wheelhouses. The Asia had portholes whilst the Russia had square windows. Built by Fairfields on the Clyde they were launched in 1912.
The Asia saw service in WW1 as an armed merchant cruiser and after a brief period as a troop carrier at the end of the war before embarking on a twenty year period on the trans Pacific run. She was again converted to a troop ship in 1941. At 11am on the 5th February 1942 she was attacked by a large formation of Japanese aircraft off the East Coast of Sumatra and was hit by several bombs.
The ensuing fire resulted in a complete loss with fortunately a minimal loss of life.
The Russia had a similar career to that of the Asia but during a refit at Barrow-in-Furness in 1945 for the repatriation of Canadian troops a fire broke out before the overhaul was completed and swept through the centre of the ship. Declared a total loss she was broken up. It was perhaps ironic that the careers of both ships were ended by fire.

Empress of Asia (and Russia) is a 1912 Canadian Pacific liner 1/72nd scale, size 98" x 11"

The Empress of Asia hull is particularly finely detailed. As you can see from the picture opposite the plates and rivets are clearly visible.
Having said that the level of detail shown is down to the skills of the scratch modeller as Fleetscale can only offer a drawing and hull (and some fittings) which is supplied finely trimmed ready for fitting of the deck.
Fittings available are such as funnels, cowl vents, brass glazed ports, deck cranes, bollards, winches, etc, etc. With the range of fittings now available it may not be such a daunting task for the relatively inexperienced.

As the lead ship of the first destroyer class built for the Royal Navy since the Type 42 in the 1970s, she has attracted significant media and public interest.
The price tag of approximately £6.6 billion for the six ships represents a significant investment into the future needs of the Royal Navy.
