Model Slipway Conserver Survey Vessel
Model Slipway Conserver Survey Vessel
Ref: 9045

Built in the early 1980s Conserver's primary role is to carry out hydrographical survey work and service buoys and other navigation marks in the Forth Estuary in Scotland. The prototype has several unusual features which have been reproduced on the model: a 'Schilling' type rudder which makes for great manoeuvrability for a single screw vessel - a feature which also works extremely well on the model. The whole wheelhouse is offset to the port side to enable mooring chains to be laid on deck for inspection, whilst the mast is placed central. The Seacrane is used to raise buoys on to the deck and the hoist on the stern is used for hydrographical work and water samples.
Exceptionally manoeuvrable the model can be turned round in its own length and it steers when going astern; a great steering course boat. The kit is recommended for model makers with some experience.

Kit Contents:
- A glassfibre hull
- Prop-shaft, rudder, motor mount and servo holder (propeller available at extra cost)
- A set of cast metal fittings; vacuum-formed liferaft canisters and satellite dome
- A Seacrane kit and a vac-formed set of three buoys in kit form
- Pre-shaped elliptical dowel for the main mast; rod for railings, D section fendering
- A printed plastic sheet showing the bulwarks, window frames and other detail
- Two large sheets of templates for the deck and cabin, and a material pack consisting of a selection of styrene plastic
- Assembly instructions, general arrangement drawings, model name

Model Slipway yorkshireman
Ref: 2851
Built in 1978 by Cochrane Shipbuilders for United Towing of Hull, Yorkshireman and her sister ship Irishman were two of the UK's largest and most powerful tugs.
Both were involved in all types of towing work in the North Sea and around the world. Their most famous days were without a doubt during the Falklands War when the Royal Navy took them into service with Salvageman. The trio formed the largest group of purpose-built tugs during the war.
Their best known exploit was in the attempt to save the container ship Atlantic Conveyor after she had been hit by missiles from the Argentinean Air Force; unfortunately this rescue attempt was not successful. The kit includes approximately 1200 parts and is recommended for the more experienced model maker.

Model Slipway Vilstroom
Model Slipway Vilstroom
Ref: 2848
Vliestroom and her sister ships MV Nieuwe Diep and Schuitengat were built by Damen Shipyards in 1987-90 for the Dutch Ministry of Transport and Waterways. Powered by 2x Deutz diesel engines, the vessels feature twin Kort nozzles, four-blade propellers, a 90 kW bow thruster and a 7.5 ton buoy-handling crane.
The folding main mast and cantilevering radar masts together with the low draught flat-bottomed hull allow for a very versatile craft, which can encounter low bridges and shallow waters in and around Holland.
This unusual and distinctive model is based on the full-sized Vliestroom, built in 1987, operating out of Hellevoetsluis near Rotterdam. Link to The Hague MBC shows photos and information on original ships including Vliestroom.

Model Slipway Tamar
Model Slipway Tamar
Ref: 2845
The Tamar class is the result of several years of research and development by the RNLI to produce the next generation of slipway-launched lifeboat. It is virtually unsinkable and if it capsizes in the stormy seas around the British Isles, it will right itself within a few seconds. The Tamar will
gradually replace the Tyne class.
The lifeboat includes the computerised Systems and Information Management System (SIMS) that enables crew to control many of the lifeboat's functions remotely from the safety of their seats. Other features include advanced ergonomics that reduce the impact on the crew as the lifeboat crashes through waves, and a powered Y-class boat stored behind a transom door to allow immediate deployment. The Y-boat is accessed by lifting a section of the rear deck, then launched and recovered on to a ramp provided by the lowered transom door. The kit contains all the required parts to build the model:
* Two glassfibre mouldings: the hull and the deck * Prop-shafts, propellers, brass rudders; a bow-thruster tube * CNC-cut and printed styrene parts for the construction of the cabin * Detailed cabin interior comprising the seats and front bulkhead from vac-formed styrene * A set of fittings and stanchions manufactured from high grade cast alloy * Three large frets of etched brass components including detailed window frames, instrumentation, interior detail etc. * Pre-formed mast arches from brass tube * Vac-formed styrene radar, bow fender, liferaft boxes, liferings, the filler bays and hose reel * A vac-formed styrene kit for the Y-class boat with Lettering and Numbers * Rubber fendering, wire, dowel etc. * Self-adhesive Lifeboats lettering and RNLI flags * Three main plans and over 70 isometric drawings for ease of construction
