Just about every sound the real Tiger I made can be made on Tamiya's 1/16 scale Tiger I. When the tank is switched on, either a manual crank start sound, or an automatic engine start sound is heard. After your engine is turned over, its time to move the tank around. As you accelerate, the engine thundering increases just like the real Tiger I. Stop the tank, and the sound of authentic idling begins. Once you have located your target, rotate the massive turret and listen to the grinding of gears of the real German war machine. The more you control this R/C tank, the more you will feel like the commander of the full size Tiger I !

The Thundering of the Maybach Engine

The only working King Tiger tank in the world is on display at the Saumur Tank Museum in France. Since the Tiger I used basically the same type of Maybach powerplant, some Tamiya staff members made their way to France to investigate. They recorded all the sounds of the real tank including; battery start-up, crank start-up, fly-wheel sound, etc. All the sounds of the enormous V-12 700hp engine have been clearly recorded and are waiting for you in Tamiya's 1/16 R/C Tiger I kit.

King Tiger 1/16th
Ref: 4605
Tamiya continues to develop its 1/16 R/C Tank Series. The fourth full-option kit to make its appearance is the German Heavy Tank King Tiger. Not only can the model move forward and backward and turn with a great sense of power, but the turret can be rotated and the 88mm gun raised and lowered. To imitate the firing of the main gun and of front machinegun, light flashes while sound is heard. The sound of the engine has been recorded, with the assistance of the French museum of Saumur, from a real Maybach HL230-P30 engine of the only King Tiger kept in working condition in the world. Not only all stages of engine sound (idling through full throttle) but also all the metallic clanking of the tank tracks have been thoroughly recorded.

2 Types of Engine Starting Sounds

Besides using electric motor starter in general conditions, the King Tiger's engine was started using a crank starter on cold days to save batteries power. This model realistically replicates both of these procedures. When switching on transmitter first, the crank starting sound is heard, but when you switch on the receiver first, electric motor starting sound is heard. You can now feel like you are part of the tank crew as you decide which procedure to follow based on temperature conditions.

Recording the Actual Engine Sound

The only King Tiger kept in working condition is displayed in the Musee des Blindes in Saumur France. In order to record the actual Maybach engine sound, Tamiya's staff crossed half of the planet to come to Saumur. Hearing the 700hp Maybach V12 engine sound when running your King Tiger will provide you with an even more striking feel of realism.

Zimmerit Coating, Realistic and Easy to Apply

During the second half of WWII, Zimmerit coating was applied on German tanks to protect them from the threat of magnetic mines. For this kit, the Zimmerit coating has been replicated with a unique relief printed seal. Thanks to this seal, you can now represent accurately a late war King Tiger with great ease.

German Leopard 2 1/16th
German Leopard 2 1/16th
Ref: 4607
Widely recognized as the best modern day Main Battle Tank (MBT), Tamiya introduces the latest German Leopard 2 tank, the Leopard 2 A6, to the 1/16 scale R/C tank series.

Tamiya's biggest R/C tank ever, it's just like driving the real thing!

Evolved DMD unit
The T-07 DMD unit provides the 1/16 R/C Leopard 2 A6 with more features than any other Tamiya R/C tank. The T-07 unit matches engine sound (which has been digitally recorded from a real MB873-Ka501 turbo-charged diesel engine) with tank movements, and controls various lightning combinations activated easily with transmitter. Turret rotation, gun elevation and firing sounds also add to the realism of this model. The T-07 unit and 7.2V battery are mounted in the turret for easy and quick accessibility.

Smooth turret and gun movement
In order to obtain smooth rotation, the turret ring has been equipped with 20 steel balls. The newly designed system for gun elevation and recoil effect features a servo for more realistic movements. While rotating turret with gun in lowered position, the gun automatically raises and goes back to its initial position to avoid the engine deck, like the actual tank.

Synchronized light and sound effects
The R/C Leopard 2 A6 is equipped with a sound speaker unit mounted at the center of the hull. A xenon flash tube is used to make gun firing more convincing. When fired, main gun recoils and then goes back smoothly to its initial position thanks to a gearbox mounted in the turret. Of course, these actions are coupled with sound effects which have been digitally recorded from the actual tank.

High mobility transmission
The R/C Leopard is powered by 2 high-torque Type 540 motors. A specially designed gearbox allows smooth power transmission at both low and high speeds. This system accurately imitates the transmission of the actual tank. One motor controls forward/backward movement and the other motor allows the tank to turn and rotate. Suspension comes equipped with torsion bars that give this model high mobility.

7 lighting combinations
The R/C leopard 2 A6 features various workable lights such as headlights, tail lamps, brake lights, black-out lights and rotating light. Model features 7 lighting combinations, 4 for tank during combat operations and 3 during non-combat operations. Main gun and axial machinegun also flash when fired.

Metal parts for accuracy
Kit includes die-cast sprockets and lathe-turned aluminum gun barrel. The double-pin tracks, which are equipped with pads made out of rubber like the actual tank, come pre-assembled. In order to obtain an even more striking feel of realism, mesh of the baskets mounted on rear of turret, and grills on the engine compartment cooling fans have been reproduced with photo-etched parts.

Overall length: 688mm, Overall width: 237mm
Comes with DMD Unit T-07 for real action movement, lighting and digital sound effects
2 lighting modes (same as the real tank) for a total of 7 lighting combinations
Real action movement includes:
Rotating turret: 360 degrees in 9 seconds (same as the real tank)
Gun elevation: maximum elevation 20 degrees, maximum depression 9 degrees
Sharp turning and pivot turning
Gun automatically reloads and returns to original firing position
Recoil action after firing main gun
Engine start-up, shut down, acceleration, discharge etc. digitally recorded from real tank
Propelled by 2 Type 540 running motors
The 1/16 Scale Leopard 2 A6 is Tamiya's biggest R/C tank ever! Height: 186mm, Rear turret to gun tip: 688mm, Width: 237mm, Weight (fully loaded): 4750g

Take Control of Your Very Own Panther ??The Panther Type G, arguably the best tank produced by any country during WWII, is now released as the latest addition to Tamiya's peerless 1/16 R/C Tank lineup! With an overall length of 572mm, this tank will definitely leave a big impression, both with its realistic looks and with its wide array of special operation features. Not only can these operations be fully controlled, they are also accompanied by realistic sounds and vibrations. For example, when the main gun fires, muzzle flash and firing sound happen in conjunction, and both the gun barrel and tank body replicate recoil movements. This is the ultimate in realistic indulgence, and the set conveniently includes 4-channel transmitter, 7.2V battery, and battery charger as well (Japan market only). Add the separately available Battle System and you can even have mock battles with other similarly equipped Tamiya R/C tanks!
Awesome Mobility? The front-mounted gearbox contains two Type 380 motors that can operate together or individually to produce forward/reverse running and pivot turning. Metal torsion bars and suspension arms combine with the wide tracks to smoothly absorb bumps and dips in the terrain and provide high manoeuvrability. In addition, realistic engine sounds accompany the tank as it starts up, drives, and stops to idle. The main turret is of course fully traversable, and the main gun itself can be elevated 12 degrees and depressed 10 degrees, and you can control the speed of these actions, which are also accompanied by realistic mechanical sounds, via the transmitter.
Main Gun Firing ?LED located in the barrel replicates the muzzle flash, and realistic firing sound accompany the firing of the main gun. The main gun is also equipped with its own recoil motor, which retracts the barrel before slowly returning it to the standard position after firing. In addition, the firing action is also linked to the gearbox to accurately reproduce the hull recoil movement as well. The front-mounted machine gun also features its own firing sounds and muzzle flashes.
About the Panther Type G?Developed as a countermeasure to the Soviet T-34, the German Panther tank was produced from 1943 until the end of the war and served alongside the Panzer III, IV and Tiger tanks. The Panther tank featured sloped armor, powerful 700hp Maybach engine and a turret placed far back on the hull mounting a 75mm L/70 cannon. The main gun was even more devastating than its size of 75mm would suggest, due to the large propellant charge and long barrel with high muzzle velocity. Many consider the Panther every bit as effective as the Tiger I, but easier to produce and maintain. The Ausf.G included versions with heater unit installed over the left engine fan, and with curving lower "chin" piece removed from the mantlet to eliminate shot trap.
Specifications ??Length: 572mm, Width: 207mm, Height: 188mm, Weight: 3740g ?Shaped aluminum 75mm gun barrel. ?Metal parts for lower hull, suspension arms, and torsion bars ensure high strength and durability. ?All actions accompanied by realistic sounds, especially the engine sounds, which were digitally recorded at the Saumur Tank Museum in France from a very rare working Maybach V12 tank engine.

DMD Control Unit T-03
The unit includes two FET speed controllers for operating two running motors. Independent circuits for turret rotation motor and gun elevation motor are also installed. With this unit, R/C tanks can be controlled easily just like an R/C car.

About the Jagdpanther? In the summer of 1942, the German army decided to use the Panther medium tank chassis as the platform for developing a new heavy tank destroyer. The result was the superb Jagdpanther, which is regarded by many historians to be one of the finest AFVs of WWII. Armed with an L71 88mm main gun and with 80mm frontal and 50mm side sloped armor plating, the Jagdpanther possessed both excellent offensive and defensive power. The 45.5 ton vehicle was equipped with a 700hp Maybach HL230P30 engine, giving it a top speed of 55km/h. This combination of firepower, protection, and mobility meant it was a dangerous adversary for Allied tanks. They got their baptism of fire in the hands of the German 654th Heavy Tank Destroyer Battalion, which deployed against Allied forces in Normandy. A large number of Jagdpanthers were also used during the Battle of the Bulge.
The suspension features many metal parts for enhanced durability. Assembly-type wide caterpillar tracks feature individual links that are connected with metal pins.
